SUMMARY:Fire. Movement. Dreams. New art collections by Ken Bichell\, Amy Fullery and Emily Anderson
DESCRIPTION:DATE\nMay 3rd from 7pm-11pm\nLocation\nSmokestack 62 E 7th St\, Dubuque\, IA 52001\nGet Directions > \nEvent Details\nJoin us May 3rd from 7pm-10pm at Smokestack for a First Friday Art Reception featuring the work of ceramicist Ken Bichell\, painter Amy Fuller and painter Emily Anderson \nDubuque Area Arts Collective invites you to the First Friday Art Reception on May 3rd from 7pm to 10pm. This event will shine a spotlight on three remarkable local artists as they unveil their new collections of works. \nUpstairs gallery: \nCeramicist Ken Bichell presents a collection of large-scale (40lb +) stoneware and porcelain pieces\, freshly crafted and fired\, attesting to Bichell’s artistry and his ability to bring clay to life in a dance with fire and alchemy. The process of firing each piece often gives unexpected results. This is where Bichell’s work transcends his own imagination\, and it offers a glimpse into a world where design meets destiny. \nAward-winning artist Amy Fuller artwork captures the ephemeral nature of life by exploring the form and movement of animals and people as they navigate through different landscapes. Her technique\, a combination of loose and carefully-placed brushwork\, blends the boundaries between her subjects and their environments. Her mediums include oil\, India ink\, soft pastel\, copper\, silver\, and vitreous enamel. \nDownstairs Gallery: \nStep into the imaginative world of self-taught artist Emily Anderson. For several decades\, she has been focusing primarily on acrylic paintings and digital art. Pulling inspiration from fantasy and nature\, Anderson attempts to capture the emotion of a song or a moment\, and the adventures of Tabletop Roleplaying Games. \nWe can’t wait to see you there\, as we come together to support and celebrate the artists\, their stories and their creative visions that enrich our community.  \nLive Music: TBA \nRSVP on Facebook
